What a weird question ? Every One know who they are . Slumdog won Golden Globe(in pipeline for oscars), Arvind Adiga won Booker for The White Tiger, and Russel Peter , an Indian, one of the best stand up Comedians in Canada . They all are highly successful .
But there's more common link in them ,then just success. They have reached to top by selling "Indian poverty" .
Russel Peters is very good ,very instantaneous .Lately i have been watching his shows . His jokes main target is ,well India . Is it his shortcut to success in west ?
"The White Tiger" won "The Booker", but on what merit ? Most people in India can write stories like that ,and more authentic too. The book looks a mix of thoughts picked from many places . Looks like a pre-Independence era. Jamindari system is long past here, even if der's sm truth about it ,itz just one or two odd incidents ,not at all the "Real India"as the book portrays .
SlumDog Millionaire , quite true and a good story line up and nicely directed too . But is it enough for oscar? I dont know, nor do i m in a position to comment on that ,but comparing it to sm other gud Indian films ,certainly it doesnt.A.R.Rehman getting golden globe for a song like "Jai Ho" !!! . He has much better compositions to his name than that(who can forget -Vande Matram -Maa tujhe salaam ,and many more ) .
Is it kind of shortcut to success in West . Or the revival of Wests obsession with Indian poverty and misery ?
Man ,India is much more than that . why the hell they allways figure India in such a way, which is just half a truth . I dont see any westerner making anything on Ambanis and TATA's .They are from India only . We have thousands of Enterpreneurs . Indians constantly figure in forbes 500 .
This is a long discussion .I can write many pages on the topic . Ending the article here .
