Kargil And INDIA

Yesterday ,Our project head in MTNL told he quite liked my blog and the posts(esp. the one in which i wrote about MTNL :-P ) . Actually he reminded me to write something new . So am here investing my time to write something new .But wait what should be the topic of the post .
If You missed it then ,today is the the 10th anniversary of the Kargil war . So that would be the most appropriate topic for today' s post .
Kargil War aka "Operation Vijay" ended on 26th July , 1999 . It was one of the toghest wars to win especially the "Tiger Hill" . As rightly commented by Major Rai "If i was sitting at the peak like them , i could have killed anyone with a stone", referring to the advantage pakistani intruders had sitting in fortified positions on top of Tiger Hill (esp. when they have Army Regulars on their side) . Even thousands of pages will be less to write about the adventures of kargil and and the army.

Wars are destructive. But they actually boost the Economy of the country .What A pardox . History proves it. And may be the kargil war is a living example of the fact . As rightly pointed out in today's HT newspaper - "It was a war that united the country ,unleashed an era of opportunities and fired the imagination of the younger generation with a new slogan : 'Yeh Dil Mange More'.

I was small then . Maybe in 7th or 8th standard. But i remember how the war affected all of us . Th atmosphere that prevailed in our life .Kargil was the the discussion topic for us , in school , in playground , everywhere. I donated money for the fund set up by my school for kargil war to be sent to Prime minister relief fund .Then NewsPaper was the best source of information, and how i waited anxiously for it every morning. Maybe that was the time that inculcated the habit of daily reading newspaper , which i continue till this date .It made me more patriotic . I wanted to join army ,before getting into DCE .I cleared the NDA exam ,but wasn't lucky enough to get there .

Not only me , war affected us and changed us all .After the win ,esp. noting the conditions our soldiers fought ,World looked at our army with a different eye .Indian economy started its Bull run .Infrastructure got a boost with lot of money being poured in . Roads being built . Many industries came up . I dont know if war had any role to play in it .But India seem to have changed in the new Millennium .

I must congratulate the then PM, Mr Atal Bihari Vajpai also, in the way he handled the situaton . With the losses to army , international Pressure , and seemingly impossible war to win , there could have been a repeat of 1971(War we won on ground but lost politically ) ,interferencee by the international heavywieghts , ending war in new LOC's been drawn(that was the plan of pakistan-a new Shimla Agreement :P ) . Gosh ..... i dont want to remember to cowardness of our govenment in 1972 .

At last some links of kargil war :-

GULAL ............a review NOT ...

This weekend i got to watch movie : GULAL by Anurag Kashyap . and i must say i wasnt disappointed by this Bolly flickat all. I just cant stand those songs running around trees :P . If you came here searching for some formal review of gulal movie giving u teasers of the movie you can stop reading it , and google another page . Itz my perspective of the film . As i said i rarely watch bolly movies , particularly hate those meaningless songsand item numbers (which account for major earning of movies ;) ) ; this was not much different in that respect , but the way songs(1 or 2 only in the film ) were mixed with the storyline , the way story moves with it , it seems a perfect way of presenting the complex plot. Movie deals with student politics , local rebellion to gain Back Rajputana , lead by Dukkey Bana(Kay Kay Menon) and the brother-sister couple (Aditya and Ayesha(Kiran ....forgot the name of brother :P)), the illegitimate children of an erstwhile Rajput king, trying to get the name o...
